Safeguarding and Child Protection
Owlswick Children’s Home and School has a duty to ensure that Children and Young People are safeguarded and that their welfare is given paramount consideration.
In all aspects of our work we strive to provide positive experiences for young people in a safe and caring environment, free from harm or abuse.
Owlswick has a moral and legal obligation to provide a safe living environment within which young people can thrive; where they are cared for by adults they trust and learn to develop positive relationships. Safeguarding covers all areas of our care and education service and all of our staff receive annual safeguarding and child protection training. We also ensure that safeguarding is reflected in all areas of our working practice and operational policies.
Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policies include our commitment to ensuring young people’s safety when using all forms of technology and we have well developed policies and practice in this constantly evolving area. Our Child Protection Policies are shaped by the Department of Education’s annually revised guidance “ Keeping children safe in education – Statutory guidance for schools and colleges on safeguarding children and safer recruitment.” They are produced by our designated safeguarding leads in conjunction with our senior management team.
